Memorial Thoughts for Joe Bishop

by Bri Bandimere Herman | Jan 29, 2019
A good friend, Joe Bishop, passed away January 2, 2019. He had suffered with cancer for the last four years. Joe was a friend of the Bandimere and Crispe families. Joe and John Jr. both attended Wheat Ridge High School. They knew each other during those days but it wasn't until after high school that they became close friends. Joe was a horseman, hunter, rancher, car, truck and tractor enthusiast. His construction business allowed him to hunt all over the world and he built some of the world's best steam engine tractors.

Many of our racing family do not know about the struggles our family went through in the late 1980's while reconstructing the track as we know it today, but Joe Bishop was the one that provided valuable assistance to our family in the rebuilding stage and helped John Jr. procure the funds needed to move forward at a critical time in this process. Honestly, Bandimere Speedway would probably not be here if it had not been for his willingness to help us when it was most needed.

Thank you, Joe Bishop (and family), may you rest in peace my friend!
